Rainy Day Dessert Table

This past spring I put together this dessert table for a baby shower. The inspiration for the table comes courtesy of designer Lisa Storms and the piece she did for Fiskars crafting projects. I loved the idea of an actual shower as the theme.

My primary color palette was white, blue and silver with an accent of sunny yellow. For the desserts I kept everything light and refreshing, with meringue and whip cream as toppings to resemble the fluffy clouds.

I made poms for the first time and they were really simple to do using the Martha Stewart tutorial. Then I used fishing line and blue card stock for making strings of rain drops to hang from each pom. My cotton candy cloud cupcake toppers were great in theory but due to the moisture in the air, they shriveled up pretty quickly. For labels, I cut out white clouds from card stock and painted silver glitter paint on the edges.

For the favors, shortbread cloud cookies with a row of baby blue M&Ms “rain drops”.I couldn’t find a cloud cutter so I drew one and traced each cookie individually. Cheesecake tartlets shown on the right.
