For Valentine’s Day this year, I was inspired by this Gnome cookie collection and decided to make my own. I first caught on to the ingeniously cookies by Dani Boglivi-Fiori when she appeared on the Martha Stewart Show in December 2010 to demo these Snow Globes. Since then, Dani has gone full steam ahead with her cookie business and continues to amaze with ideas like this year’s holiday work of art, the Nativity Scene and Lovebird Owls. The best news of all… she recently tweeted that her book is tentatively launching at the end of the year!
This is my take on Dani’s Gnome collection. I went with the traditional gnome color scheme and added blue. And a good 8 hours later…..

And I thought I’d never figure out what to do with lobster cookie cutters. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Red roses, red hearts, red boxes of candy. Valentine’s Day is a sea of red. I decided to make pink the color to celebrate with and my ingredient of choice… grapefruit.

Here are few Valentine’s Day treats that I’ve done in the past. You can celebrate all day with ideas for brunch, a treat for the office, and desserts.

Valentine’s Day is exciting because I can finally create things in heart shapes. I don’t know what it is about hearts that I love so much but I have ramekins, silicone molds and cookie cutters all heart-shaped and it doesn’t seem fitting to use them unless its February 14th. Being a week away I couldn’t wait to try a new recipe.
I was actually coming up with Super Bowl recipes and decided on chicken empanadas. Unfortunately I didn’t have all the ingredients so I decided to go sweet and make Chocolate and Banana Empanadas. Then I thought…what if I made them heart-shaped?! Oh I was excited and literally squealed in a high-pitched teenybopper voice.

My life is food and I am lucky to experience it in San Francisco. I love to write about the delicious food that I've experienced from meeting chefs, artisans and others in the food community. Food trucks, pop-ups, demos. I'm there. Tasting, note-taking and photo clicking. I'm at Williams-Sonoma by day and pastry school by night. My favorite place in the city is the Ferry Building where the farmer's market is my inspiration for baking in my half-sized apartment. I hope in perusing my blog, you are inspired with ideas for baking, entertaining and tasting new things. Email me
