On my flight to Paris, while taking a nap I woke to the smell of butter. My nose said… croissants! I immediately scanned the plane for a coming flight attendant. Sadly, this is what landed in front of me. Never have I seen such a sad, limp piece of pastry. I ate it anyway because [...]

It was nice to experience Paris in the fall. On previous trips I’ve always had the luxury of the summer warmth and while this time it was an unfriendly 40 degrees, it didn’t stop me from taking in the city by foot. Most of Paris continues to be green but I was happy to find [...]

I’m having major Paris withdrawal since returning less than 24 hours ago. So here we go, a Paris-inspired ORANGE post to celebrate the Giants World Series win #2 since I missed the entire thing as I was busily stuffing my face with pastries.
“Napolean Noir,” Laduree’s gorgeous black box with an intricate gold trim. According to [...]

Another Saturday at the Ferry Building and I stopped inside Boulette’s Larder, a restaurant/shop on the water side facing the farmer’s market. I have never eaten there but I like to stop inside and see the glass case of prepared food and desserts. This art piece on the wall made me smile as we are [...]

In last season’s finale of Gossip Girl we found out Blair & Serena would take on Paris for the summer. Already incredibly stylish in Manhattan, imagine them with their Chanel and Louis strolling along the Champs [...]

Indulging in Macarons: Part 1
I was floating on a sugar cloud as I continued to taste as many macarons as I possibly could. But I have to say the ultimate macaron experience and highlight of my time in Paris was a visit inside the kitchen of chocolatier and patissier, Gerard Mulot. I thought this behind-the-scenes [...]

While the craze is still all about cupcakes in the US, the spotlight belongs to macarons in Paris. And long lines didn’t deter me from my search for the city’s best. Ladurée, Pierre Hermé,
Gerard Mulot… here I come!

“Deux croissants au beurre s’il vous plait.“ Oh how I miss saying that every morning. Here in the states a morning typically includes a trip to Starbucks for a latte, mocha.. or whatever it is people need to wake up. Not being a coffee drinker myself I wouldn’t know. But it was nice [...]

One week wandering the streets of Paris… no museums or long lines, no Eiffel Tower, just food. I returned home mid-August but was in denial that I had really left a city that I fell in love with. The idea of blogging and writing in past tense would only emphasize the fact that the trip [...]

My life is food and I am lucky to experience it in San Francisco. I love to write about the delicious food that I've experienced from meeting chefs, artisans and others in the food community. Food trucks, pop-ups, demos. I'm there. Tasting, note-taking and photo clicking. I'm at Williams-Sonoma by day and pastry school by night. My favorite place in the city is the Ferry Building where the farmer's market is my inspiration for baking in my half-sized apartment. I hope in perusing my blog, you are inspired with ideas for baking, entertaining and tasting new things. Email me
